Is This “Journey” Spiritual?

September 29, 2008

Well, there it is. My little chunk of Schaumburg. This is the area I chose to deliver 1000 door hangers. It also happens to be the area that includes the High School, where we are having services starting this weekend. All together, we as a church are delivering 50,000 of these puppies each week for 3 weeks.

Heart Check Time

September 24, 2008

I just got done spending an hour with Gloria. I just met her, for the first time, today. I was praying, and listening to God while sitting by the little lake next to the Schaumburg library. The sun was just coming up, and it was a beautiful setting. Something told me to look up, and when I did, I saw Gloria.

Goodbye!

September 21, 2008

Today is our last at the Schaumburg Park District. We have had a great time meeting here. I still remember the day David and I asked if we could use a park outside to met, because we had nowhere else to go! The people there were so friendly and helpful, I’ll never forget that.

We wound up in the room we still use, and it has served us well. The staff is great, and we have had some great experiences there. I know we will look back on this time with fond memories. We also have a “first” as well. Scott Koetje is leading worship, and his lovely wife Jeanette is giving her testimony. God has truly blessed us by bringing them to Waterfront, and I can’t wait to see where our friendship leads.

A bit of perspective

September 14, 2008

Had a great opportunity this morning to witness a new church launch. I will not name what church, so that I can be objective in my observations, but suffice to say it is a church a lot like Waterfront (in theory). I have been a part of launches before, but never as an attender. I’ve always been working. So, without further ado, here are some of my observations….

* Everyone that works at a church should get out more!

It is so easy to do things on Sunday just because you have always done them that way. But, when you go somewhere else, it is easy to say, “why do they do that?” That bit of perspective represents what most people think and feel about your church. So, by going somewhere else, you can gain perspective that you can bring back to your own church. Read the rest of this entry »

I think this is our theme song

September 10, 2008

Jim and sheri Mueller tipped me to this great song by Brandon Heath, called “Give Me Your Eyes.”

It is a great song, but more importantly the lyrics really sum up what Waterfront is all about. Check it out here

We will show this at our last gathering at the Rec Center, on Sept. 21st. Hope you can make it!

Something old……is new again!

September 8, 2008

Well, we took the plunge, and made our first (and probably last) big purchase and bought the trailer full of equipment I talked about earlier. We now have (almost) everything we need to do fullscale church. With 6 weeks to spare! We also were able to serve the church we bought it from, and they are great people. It was truly a “win – win.”

Now, I have to figure out how to work all this stuff………….
